#2054 Building Ornamental Letterforms, March 13, with Jen Farrell

$ 75.00

Learn how to create a unique letterform using metal and wood type ornaments! In this workshop, Jen will discuss the styles of letters that work best for the process and how to sketch ideas while keeping basic printer’s math in mind. The design of each ornament, including its positive and negative space, will be discussed so that participants can explore forms within their own collections. Symmetrical and more complicated asymmetrical letters will be covered, as well as tips for combining metal and wood ornaments to achieve the best results. We’ll talk about developing a critical design eye for building typographic forms and ornament collections that best suit each participant’s goals.

This class is a demonstration and discussion. There will be time for questions and each participant will receive a print made during the workshop.

This is an online class. Information about participating by zoom will be sent to all participants in advance. We will also collect your mailing address in order to mail your print following the workshop.
