#5099 Crisscross Binding (aka Secret Belgian), Dec 5 & 6 with Anne Covell

#5099 Crisscross Binding (aka Secret Belgian), Dec 5 & 6 with Anne Covell

$ 120.00

This is an Online Class. The Crisscross Binding (formerly known as the Secret Belgian Binding) is a simple and elegant structure to add to any binder's repertoire. In this structure, the secret lies in how the cover is attached to the text block -- in this version it is woven in after the text block is sewn. This binding also has the added benefit of being able to lie flat, which makes it an ideal structure for a journal or sketchbook. Students in this workshop can expect to learn text block preparation and sewing, cover weaving, and secondary sewing and will leave the lesson with a completed and visually unique book. No previous binding experience necessary.

Students in this class will be provided with a descriptive handout and materials list in advance of the class to allow students to prepare ahead and bind along with the instructor during the demonstration.

This is an online class. Information about participating by zoom will be sent to all participants in advance. We encourage you to enroll early so you can gather the materials and supplies and work along during the class.

Please consider:

This is a two day workshop, both Saturday and Sunday from 2 pm to 4 pm

We want you to join the class by video, if possible, and participate. If you have a noisy household (dogs, partners, music lessons) we encourage you to mute your speaker so the instructor can be heard easily by everyone.

Try to prepare a workspace so you have some room to work, and a space to connect to the class.

Only include who needs to be there. We hope you catch the spirit and want to teach everyone you know how to make books. Plan to do that after the class, please don't include family members, neighbors, pets in this call.
