#2044 Custom Letterpress Journal, with Tania Baban & Sue Kaplan - June 30
Have you seen a printing press and wondered how to use it? Are you a binder with a collection of blank books? Would you like to make sketchbooks choosing your own paper? This fun hands-on workshop is an introduction to book binding and letterpress printing. We’ll review basic typesetting with metal and wood type, and then you’ll print the type as a cover design for your personal journal.
Using your printed cover, we’ll introduce simple, but elegant binding options including a standard pamphlet. These beautiful handmade books are great for use as a journal, creating a simple sketchbook, or a personal notebook for all your brilliant ideas. We'll also be able to customize the paper, including graph paper or special bullet journal pages. Your custom journals also make great gifts.
Participants will complete two styles of journals: one based on a Japanese binding, and an edition of 6 copies of a 5 3/4 x 3 1/2 inch hand-sewn books. All materials and supplies are included in the workshop registration fee.
Sunday, June 30 from 10 am to 4 pm
Fee: $165 includes all tools and materials needed for printing and binding six books.
