#2048 - Practical Printing from Polymer Plates, with Annemarie Munn - Nov 16

$ 125.00

In the morning we will make polymer plates and discuss the strengths and challenges of printing from polymer plates. After a short break for lunch, we will print our designs (on our newly made polymer plates) and put the morning's discussion into action.

Some prior letterpress experience (such as a Type Slam or Intro Class) is helpful for this fast-paced, hands-on class, but levels are welcome.

Saturday, November 16 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

This class can be taken alone, or with Modern Design for the Letterpress (Oct 30). Students who did not attend the Modern Design course will make a plate using designs provided by the instructor.

Fee: $125, plus a materials fee of $10

Enrollment is limited to 6 students

About your instructor:

Annemarie Munn is the owner/main press operator of Ladybones Print Shop. While growing up in rural Northern California, she was lucky enough to live in a house replete with broadsides and chapbooks both letterpress and otherwise, mostly poetry, mostly printed in the Bay Area during the 1960s and 1970s.

Although she spent years in academia studying philosophy and creative writing, in late 2008 Annemarie finally gave in to the siren call of ink and paper, and was lucky enough to begin her printing career as an intern with the San Francisco Center for the Book's Imprint division, where her first project was to print the Small Plates edition of Reparations, an accordion book by former Black Panther Minister of Culture Emory Douglas. See more of her work on her website.
