#5030 Historical Sewing Sampler, with Anne Covell - Aug 26

$ 150.00

In this course, we’ll learn to sew over a dozen historic binding styles on a single book. We’ll begin with unsupported sewings (Coptic and Greek) and progress to cord, alum taw, and split leather (Carolingian and Romanesque). In this portion, we’ll experiment with both raised and recessed supports, as well as packing and sewing variants. We’ll also cover later styles such as sewing over tapes and Ramieband and discuss in depth the history of binding and the timeline of developments that gave rise to each sewing style.The historical sewing sampler is an ideal way to learn multiple sewing styles in a single setting and is a great instructional reference for future projects.

Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 9 am to 4 pm. There is a $40 materials fee, payable to BookArtsLA.
