#5035 Slotted Tape Binding, with Anne Covell - January 21
The slotted tape binding is a contemporary adaptation of the historic paper case binding, also known as the limp vellum binding, that was prominent throughout Europe during the late-Medieval period. In this binding, sections are sewn on supports that are laced through a limp or semi-limp cover to provide a simple and durable non-adhesive attachment. This structure is easily adaptable and can work well with as little as two sections, making it an ideal structure for artists' books and/or sketchbooks. Students in this class will make two slotted tape bindings, one large and one small, to better understand the versatility of this structure.
Sunday, January 21 from 9 am to 4 pm. There will be an additional material fee, due at the class.
