#5048 Intense Indigo, with Anne Covell - September 29 & 30
This two-day workshop will dive into the deep blues of indigo by exploring three different traditional vat recipes: the lye-thiourea vat, the indigo ferrous vat, and the indigo fruit vat. We'll explore the properties of each vat in depth and see how minor alterations to vat chemistry affects shade and depth of color of the blues we achieve. Since we'll have two days to explore the vats, each student will have the opportunity to build deeper colors through longer dips and multiple successive dips.
Shibori techniques will also be covered to add pattern and dimension to our dipped materials. A kit of cloth and paper samples to dye are included in the materials fee, as are all the chemicals required to make each of the three vats.
Saturday and Sunday, September 29 and 39 from 9 am to 4 pm. There is a $40 materials fee
