#5116 Archival Long Stitch Binding, April 24 am, with Anne Covell
The archival long stitch was used predominantly in 16th - 19th century Europe. Existing examples can be found in archives throughout Italy and Spain. Sewn into a durable papercase wrapper, the archival long stitch combines paired sewing stations with contrasting decorative backplates that provide stability and support while sewing. This structure combines speed and simplicity with flexibility and durability of form. Few tools and little to no adhesives are required to make this binding. Emphasis in this class will be on signature punching and sewing methods.
Students in this class will be provided with a descriptive handout and materials list in advance of the class to allow students to bind along with the instructor during the demonstration.
This is a online class. Information about participating by zoom will be sent to all participants in advance. We encourage you to enroll early so you can gather the materials and supplies and work along during the class.
